Swachh Bharat Mission

FIVE YEAR ACTION PLAN (2014-19) ON SWACHH BHARAT MISSION AS UNDER:-

 

1)      The Institute along with  KVK will conduct at least 1 awareness campaign on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan  with the nearby village farming community, once in six months. The Institute will adopt one nearby village and ensure to develop it into a clean green and prosperous  model village.

2)      Cleanliness drives including cleaning and sweeping of offices, corridors and premises , weeding out old records, disposing  of old and obsolete furniture, junk material and regular white washing/painting in the establishment premises  and areas in the vicinity  at all the establishments of  Institutes.

a)             All the staff members  will devote  a minimum of 100 hours per year  of his/her time exclusively for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.  The respective  office will keep a record of such target. Cleaning and Sweeping  of   their respective  rooms will be taken up every Saturday between  3.00 p.m. to  5.00 p.m.

b)             Drive for cleaning   the corridors and  premises (farm, dairy unit, piggery, rabbit unit, poultry unit & KVK)  will  taken up on the last working day of  every month.

c)             All the sections  will  have to complete the weeding out  of old records in the  second week of  April of each year.

d)             Disposing  of old and obsolete furniture & junk material  should be completed by 31st May of each year.

e)         White  washing/painting of all the buildings/ labs and offices  in the Institute  premises  will be done once in each year.

3)      Clean and organic farming practices  will be propagated among the farming community for improving  the environment and the soil health.

4)      The Institute and KVK  will  integrate   Swachh Bharat Mission with  the transfer of agricultural technologies/package of practices  in the adopted villages including  field days , technology demonstrations & on and off farm training programmes.

5)      The Institute  will work towards development of clean and smart office including  setting up of  modular computerized  offices to replace  the old  offices to ensure  uplifting  of hygiene and cleanliness standards as well as to reduce congestion at work place.

List of works undertaken under SWACHH BHARAT MISSION

YEAR : 2019 - "Swachhta Hi Seva"
A. Display  of Banner at prominent places with  the message to stop the use Single–Use Plastic (SUP) and Swachhta Pledge was taken on 11-09-2019.
   
B. Plastic waste collection drive within the campus and surroundings including residential colonies was done on 12-09-2019
    
C. Stock taking of waste management & other activities  including  utilization of organic wastes/ generation of wealth  from waste, polythene free status, composting  of kitchen and home waste materials was done on 13-09-2019
              
D. Cleanliness drive including cleaning  of Offices, Corridors and Premises, ensuring the Office becomes free  of SUP was done on 16-09-2019
             
E. Promoting  clean & green technologies and organic farming practices in kitchen  gardens of residential colonies/one  nearby village for generating wealth from waste was on 17-09-2019
   
F. Review of progress on weeding out old records, disposal  of old and obsolete furniture and Survey  of Single-use plastic in use at this  Institute was done on 18-09-2019
   
G. Campaign  on cleaning of sewerage, water lines, water tanks & sumps on 19-09-2019
  
H. Swachhta Awareness at  local level (organizing  Plastic Waste free India Campaigns) involving and with the help of the farmers, farm women and  village youth in new villages not adopted by  any Institutes/Establishments was done on 20-09-2019
  
J. Awareness  on  plastic waste free India,  recycling  of waste water,  water harvesting for agriculture/horticulture application/kitchen gardens in residential colonies was done on 21-09-2019
  
K. Awareness  on  harmful effects  of  SUP, recycling of waste water, water harvesting for agriculture/horticulture application/kitchen gardens in nearby villages with the involvement of local/village communities was on 23-09-2019
  
L. Basic maintenance: Stock taking on digitization of Office records/e-office implementation was carried out on 24-09-2019
  
M. Plastic waste collection drive  at  public places, community market places and/or nearby tourist spots was on 25-09-2019
  
N. Promoting clean and green technologies and organic farming practices in community places and Organizing Workshops, Exhibitions, technology demonstrations on agricultural technologies for  conversion of waste to wealth, safe disposal of all kinds of wastes was carried out on 26-09-2019
 
O. Students of Class III to V  and  Class VI to VIII participated in a letter writing competition on 27-09-2019. The topic was to write a letter  to Bapu: Conveying  the  Child’s contribution  to Swachhta  and his/her commitment  for the future. 
  
 
YEAR : 2018 - "Swachhta Hi Seva"

 

Dr. Nibedita Nayak and Dr. Maruthadurai R were deputed as Resource persons to deliver lectures on the issues related to Cleanliness and Waste Management at the one day Seminar organised by Village Panchayat, Navelim on 24th September, 2018 as part of SWACHTTA SABHA.

     
A. The pledge taking Ceremony was held on 15-09-2018 at  3.30 p.m. in the conference hall  of the Institute.
                       
B. All Employees devoted 2 hours (10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.) in cleaning, sweeping their respective sections, laboratories, corridors and the entire campus of the Institute on 17-09-2018.

YEAR : 2016

1. Owing to the importance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India Mission lead by the Government of India, the ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute has actively organised a cleanliness awareness programme on 16th May, 2016.

              

14. As part of the fortnight cleanliness drive which started from 16th May, 2016 as special Swachhta Pakhwara, under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India Mission lead by the Government of India,  a cleanliness drive was organized by this Institute on May 28, 2016 under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director of the institute. 

        

2. ICAR-CCARI, Goa conducted the Swachhta Campaign on 2nd October, 2016, under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director (Acting) of the institute to commemorate the day the Swachh Bharat Mission of Govt. of India which was launched on 2-10-2014.. The cleanliness drive has covered the entire areas of the Institute and KVK. All the scientific and other staff of the Institute whole-heartedly participated in the cleanliness drive.

           

3. On 17th October, 2016 at 10.30 a.m. the Swachhta Shapath pledge was administered to all the staff of ICAR-CCARI, Goa. ( photos enclosed)
All the administrative staff carried out the cleanliness drive by cleaning and sweeping all the offices, laboratories & corridors.

                      

4. On 18th October, 2016, the administrative sections undertook weeding of old files/ records etc in accordance with the rules. Also KVK conducted awareness programme on cleanliness - Undertaken cleanliness drive by cleaning outside the walls of the Institute.

        

5. On 19th October, 2016, the staff of the Institute undertook the cleanliness drive by cleaning the entire main building, laboratories, field experimental plots, KVK building , common area premises, toilets, areas outside the office, Farm, Dairy units including Parking lots, pathways, etc. and area outside the Institute campus under the supervision of the Farm Superintendent.

              

6. On 20th October, 2016, all unserviceable junk stores items including furniture have been identified for disposal.

                           

7. On 21st October, 2016, a Cleanliness drive was undertaken with the family members of the staff residing in the residential complex to clean the entire residential campus, under the supervision of the Chairman of the Residential Quarters. (photos enclosed).
              

8. On 22nd October, 2016, an awareness programme on cleanliness was held in the Institute. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director (Acting) in his opening address emphasised on keeping the surroundings clean. He also said that segregation of the garbage, waste material is very important at individual level before handing over to the garbage collecting workers for proper garbage management.
A Lecture on “How to keep our environment clean and the different ways cleanliness impacts on productivity in the office” was delivered by Architect K.D. Sadhale, Environmentalist, Nirmal Vishwa. He is a person who has spent the past several years trying to persuade people to handle garbage in a scientific manner, for garbage is gold if properly handled. Mr. Sadhale believes that garbage management should be a local initiative wherein small groups dispose their biodegradable garbage on their own. As far as plastic is concerned, Mr. Sadhale preaches the four Rs - Refuse, Reduce, Repair, Recycle. Smt. Rekha Joshi also gave talk on Waste Management & Protecting Environment. She also demonstrated a coal stove which is environment friendly and also economical.
            

9. On 23rd October, 2016 , a Swachha Bharat Awareness Camp” was orgnaised by ICAR-CCARI, Goa in Collaboration with Old Goa Panchayat near Old Goa Educational Society at Katya Bhat. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar , Director (Acting) in his opening address emphasised on the use of Toilets to avoid the unhygienic surroundings. He also said that segregation of the garbage, waste material is very important at individual level before handing over to the garbage collecting workers for proper garbage management. Guest speaker Dr. P B Usgaonkar, Medical Officer discussed the importance of cleanliness of surroundings and its impact on personal hygiene. Shri Vinayak Fadte, Sarpanch, Se Old Goa chaired the programme and interacted with the participants and discussed the issues related to the toilets construction, garbage collection. He extended the greetings to everyone for participation in this programme for spreading Swachhta Awareness. Shri Satya Sai Samiti representatives were also participated on the occasion. A Cleanliness drive was also undertaken wholeheartedly by all the participants at the venue after the programme.

              

10. On 24th October, 2016, a drive was successfully undertaken for cleaning the pit behind the main building and filling it with soil.

               

11. On 25th October, 2016 a drive was undertaken to clean all the drinking water filters of the Institute and KVK.

YEAR : 2015

1. Cleaning of children's play area and surrounding areas in residential quarters under “Swachh Bharat Mission” on 10th January, 2015.

                      

  2.  The residents of the quarters of the Institute undertook a cleanliness drive of the area around residential complex on 14th February, 2015

                     

 3. Condemnation of old obsolete material like computers, printers, motors etc.) on 25th March, 2015

                  

4. Weeding of files and cleaning the storage area on second floor of the main building on 6th August, 2015

              

  5. Cleaning and planting of ornamental plants on outer wall side area of KVK on 11th September, 2015

7. ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute conducted a Swachh Bharat Mission cleanliness drive on 1st October, 2015 under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director of the institute. The cleanliness drive has covered Karmali Railway Station and Premises and outer wall of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

                

8. The Institute conducted a Swachh Bharat Mission cleanliness drive on 31st October, 2015 under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director of the institute. The cleanliness drive has covered outer wall of the complex.  

                   

YEAR : 2014

1.     1. Avenue and ornamental plants were planted to keep the surrounding area clean and beautiful on 14th August, 2014.

                      

 2. Cleaning of each and every room in the Institute and also surrounding area by staff on 30th September, 2014.

                       

      3.  A silent procession was organized to create awareness and motivate the people of Old Goa for maintaining individual hygiene and cleanliness of the surroundings on 2nd October, 2014.

                     

       4. Cleaning of area in the residential complex and also behind the main administrative building on 12th December, 2014.
