Hon’ble MP Shri Yusuf Pathan visited ICAR–CCARI, Goa

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and internationally acclaimed cricketer Shri Yusuf Pathan visited ICAR–CCARI, Goa on 30thJanuary 2026. He was warmly welcomed and felicitated by the Director, Dr. Parveen Kumar, on behalf of the staff of the Institute.

During the visit, the Hon’ble MP was briefed on the Institute’s significant achievements in promoting sustainable and climate-resilient coastal agriculture. The tour included experimental crop research plots under the Integrated Farming System (IFS) approach with special emphasis on natural farming, horticultural blocks comprising coconut-based spice plantations, cashew and mango orchards, nursery and propagation units, vermicomposting and organic input production facilities, livestock and poultry units integrated with the Livestock Waste Valorization System/PROM unit for efficient recycling of farm waste, as well as Agroecotourism related activities on the campus.

The scientific team highlighted ongoing efforts in climate-resilient technologies, resource conservation, and livelihood enhancement for coastal farming communities.A comprehensive and interactive field visit of the campus was coordinated by Dr. Vinod Ubarhande, who provided detailed explanations of various experimental units and research demonstrations, offering first-hand insights into the Institute’s applied research and technology dissemination activities. Hon’ble MP also participated in the valedictory programme of three days training on ‘Entrepreneurship opportunities in Livestock Poultry and Fish Farming’ under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP), and distributed the participation certificates to the trainee farmers.

Shri Pathan interacted enthusiastically with scientists and staff, appreciated the practical relevance of the innovations, and lauded the Institute’s contributions toward farmers’ welfare and sustainable agriculture.The Institute expressed its sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Member of Parliament for his encouraging visit, which served as a great motivation to the scientific and technical staff.
