
Empowering Scheduled Caste Farmers through Coastal Soil Health Management Training RFRS Vengurla, Maharashtra
ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR–CCARI), Goa organized the Coastal Soil Health Improvement Programme (CHSIP) – 2026, a training-cum-input distribution programme under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP), in collaboration with Regional Fruit Research Station (RFRS), Vengurla, Maharashtra on 18 March 2026 at RFRS Vengurla, Maharashtra. The programme was conducted with the objective of empowering Scheduled Caste farmers from Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra by enhancing their knowledge and capacity in soil health management and sustainable coastal agriculture.The training focused on important aspects such as soil health management, use of digital agriculture tools for sustainable farming, application of bio-inoculants, biomass recycling, and preparation of farm-based bio-inputs like PROM and Jeevamrut. These technologies are essential for improving soil fertility and ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability in coastal regions.As part of the programme, essential agricultural inputs including PROM and Amrashakti were distributed to the participating Scheduled Caste farmers (20 nos) to support adoption of improved practices. The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session, during which participants appreciated the practical exposure and technical guidance provided.The programme was successfully coordinated by Mr. Shashi Vishwakarma, Dr. Gopal R. Mahajan, and Dr. Sagar More.
