Training on Organic Farming cum Input Distribution under STC
A training on Organic Farming and Input Distribution was organized by ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, North Goa, on 19 January 2026 at Cumbharjua, Tiswadi, North Goa. The programme aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills on sustainable organic farming practices and the effective use of organic inputs. Ms. Sejal Narvekar, Panch Member, Cumbharjua, attended the programme as the Guest of Honor and highlighted the importance of organic farming for sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR–KVK, North Goa, briefed the program and highlighted sustainable organic farming practices, such as selection of seeds, organic seed treatment, enriched organic manure with biofertilizers, intercropping systems, and organic pest & disease management practices. The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), ICAR–KVK, North Goa, followed by a brief overview of the programme by Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR–KVK, North Goa. Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), explained the preparation and use of liquid organic manures, such as Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, and Panchagavya, as well as organic vegetable production techniques. A total of 25 farmers participated in the programme, including 10 males and 15 females, reflecting strong interest and active involvement from the local farming community. An interactive feedback session enabled participants to share experiences and clarify their queries with the experts. As part of the programme, farm implements were distributed to 20 participants, including Pikas, Sickle, rose can, knapsack sprayer, Bucket, Khurpi, hand hoe, spade, sickles, baskets, Sharpening Stone, etc., under the scheduled tribal component. The program was organized by Mr. Rahul Kumar and Dr. N. Bommayasamy as Course Directors with technical support of Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati and Mr. Aishwar Kumar Tiwari, Technical Trainee.
