Awareness Programme on Vaccination and Deworming in Livestock and Poultry at Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu under SCSP

    The Institute conducted an awareness programme on vaccination and deworming in livestock and poultry at Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu on 28 February 2026, in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry Department, Tamil Nadu under SCSP. During the programme, Dr. Vaitheeswaran, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Rameshwaram, sensitized farmers on the importance of timely vaccination and deworming in livestock and poultry. He explained the symptoms of important bacterial, viral, and protozoal diseases affecting cattle and poultry, along with appropriate preventive measures and recommended vaccination and deworming schedules.Dr. Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao, Subject Matter Specialist (Animal Science), delivered a session on scientific dairy management practices with special emphasis on clean milk production and hygienic handling to improve milk quality and farmers’ income.A total of 11 Scheduled Caste farmers, including 10 female and 1 male, benefited from the awareness programme.The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Udharwar S.V., Dr. Sreekanth G.B., and Dr. Vaitheeswaran.
