The Third meeting of the IX Research Advisory Committee (RAC) of ICAR-CCARI was held during 18-19 April 2023

    The third meeting of the IX RAC was held on 18-19 April 2023 at ICAR – CCARI, Goa in hybrid mode. The meeting was chaired by Dr Tapas Bhattacharyya (Former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, Maharashtra) and attended by the RAC members Dr. M. R. Dinesh (Former Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru), Dr. M. A. Shankar (Former Director of Research, UAS, Bengaluru), Dr. Baban Ingole (Visiting Scientist, NCPOR, Goa), Dr. A. Velumurugan (ADG (SWM), NRM Division, ICAR, New Delhi) and Dr. Parveen Kumar (Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa) and Member Secretary Dr. R. Solomon Rajkumar (Senior Scientist, ICAR-CCARI, Goa).

    Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa during his welcome address outlined the ICAR-CCARI’s major achievements during the last Year. Dr. R. Solomon Rajkumar, Member Secretary, RAC presented the recommendations of the previous RAC and the Action Taken Report followed by the section-wise presentations on research achievements by respective section in-charges.

    The Committee chairman and members appreciated the work done during the last two years and urged the scientists for focusing on site-specific technologicalinterventions for the higher productivity of crops, livestock and fisheries in the coastal region of the country. The coastal agricultural information system, the assessment of multiple stress-tolerant rice varieties for coastal ecosystems, poly-embryonic rootstock research and the development of functional value-added products were emphasized during the meeting. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Uthappa, A. R. Member Secretary (IRC).
