
Farmers Participate in Live Viewing of PM-KISAN 23rd Instalment Release at ICAR-KVK, North Goa
ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, under the aegis of ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organized a Live Viewing Programme of the PM-KISAN Utsav Divas marking the release of the 23rd installment of the PM-KISAN Scheme on 20 June 2026 at ICAR-KVK, North Goa.During the event, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring ₹18,880 crore directly to the bank accounts of more than 9.44 crore farmers across the country through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. On the occasion, the Prime Minister also launched the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in West Bengal and inaugurated several developmental projects aimed at strengthening agricultural growth, rural infrastructure, and farmer welfare. The event highlighted the Government’s continued commitment to enhancing farmers’ income, ensuring financial security, and promoting sustainable agricultural development.
Ms. Nishita Gawde, Ex-Sarpanch, Cumbharjua, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasized the significance of PM-KISAN as a vital income support scheme that strengthens farmers’ financial stability, enhances agricultural productivity, and promotes sustainable rural development.Ms. Manda Madkaikar, Ex-Deputy Sarpanch, Carambolim, who graced the occasion as Guest of Honour, appreciated the efforts of ICAR in creating awareness among farmers through various extension programmes, particularly the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan.” She stated that the knowledge disseminated through such programmes would encourage greater adoption of organic manures and balanced fertilizer application among farming communities.Ms. Sejal Narvekar, Panch Member, Cumbharjua and Guest of Honour, highlighted the importance of PM-KISAN assistance in enabling farmers to purchase quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural inputs during critical crop seasons. She further noted that the scheme helps reduce farmers’ dependence on informal moneylenders and minimizes the burden of high-interest loans.
On this occasion, experts including Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Dr. Shripad Bhat, Mr. Trivesh Suresh Mayekar, Dr. M. Theivanai, Mr. Rahul Kumar, Mr. Shashi Vishwakarma, and Dr. Nivya K. R. interacted with the participants and provided technical guidance on soil health management, organic farming, fish production, natural farming, and soil test-based nutrient management practices.A total of 104 participants, including 17 men and 87 women, attended the programme and actively engaged in the discussions. To promote sustainable nutrient management and raise awareness about the benefits of organic farming, vermicompost was distributed to all participants. The distribution highlighted the role of organic nutrient sources in improving soil health, enhancing crop productivity, and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers and Bio-NPK was distributed to 25 participants to promote the use of biofertilizers and encourage. The programme was coordinated by Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Dr Shripad Bhat, Mr. Rahul Kumar, Dr. Nivya KR, Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati, and Mr. Aishwar Kumar Tiwari.
