Press tour of PIB Cochin Media Delegation to ICAR–CCARI, Goa

 

    A delegation comprising senior editors and reporters from leading media organisations of Kerala, representing Press Information Bureau (PIB), Cochin, along with officials from PIB Panaji, visited the ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR–CCARI), Goa on 25th February 2026. The delegation included a total of 16 officials and media personnel, who were provided an overview of the institute’s mandate, research programmes, and significant contributions towards the development of coastal agriculture and the welfare of coastal farmers.

    The Director, Dr. Parveen Kumar, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the institute’s achievements, innovative research initiatives, and extension efforts. Ms. Dhanya Sanal K (IIS), Director (M&C), PIB Cochin, expressed her appreciation for the institute’s impactful work and its sustained contributions to strengthening climate-resilient livelihoods of coastal farming communities. Dr. Vinod Ubarhande delivered a detailed presentation on “Best Practices and Innovative Research Initiatives of ICAR–CCARI,” followed by an interactive session that witnessed active participation from the visiting media professionals. An extensive field visit to various experimental farms, research units, and demonstration sites was subsequently conducted, during which ongoing research activities and technologies were explained in detail. The field visit and overall programme were coordinated by Dr. Vinod Ubarhande, Farm Superintendent, along with Shri Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO. The visit enabled the media delegation to gain first-hand exposure to applied agricultural research and farmer-centric innovations of ICAR–CCARI, facilitating informed dissemination of the institute’s work to the wider public.
