Organization of Field training and input distribution programme in the coastal district of Sindhudurg
ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa organized a field training and farm input distribution programme in the Pawashi village of the coastal district of Sindhudurg, Maharashtra on 5th December, 2025. Training was organized under the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan as a part of broader initiative to support scheduled caste community in their developmental aspirations and to empower them through exposure trainings, supply of farm inputs and awareness creation. Seventeen dairy farmers including five women from the region participated in the programme.
During the training, farmers gained insights into the scientific rearing of dairy animals including optimal housing, feeding and health management practices. Dr. Gokuldas PP, Senior Scientist (Animal Reproduction), delivered a lecture on scientific reproductive and health management strategies. Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, SMS (Animal Science) presented on balanced feeding and overall management practices for successful dairy farming. Additionally, Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar introduced the participants about the scope and prospects of scientific fish farming practices. Various veterinary preparations, mineral and feed supplements, deworming agents and extension folders were also distributed during the programme. Participants actively interacted with the resource persons throughout the sessions and the training imparted much-needed knowledge on scientific dairy farming to the farmers in the Pawashi region. Dr. Gokuldas PP, Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar and Dr. Sreekanth GB coordinated the programme. Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar, (YP-1) and Ms. Vedika Kudalkar, (YP-1) assisted in overall coordination of the training and input distribution programme.
