Training on Organic Manure Production

    ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, conducted a four-day training on organic manure production at Kadshimopa, Pernem, from 2nd to 5th December 2025. The programme aimed to build the self-employment generation for sustainable livelihood through organic manure production. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, North Goa, briefed the participants on various KVK activities and delivered sessions on the transition period requires to convert a conventional farm to certified organic production for annual and perennial crops, preparation and application of effective microorganism formulations, and low-cost production of bio-control agents such as Trichoderma and Pseudomonas etc.

    Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), delivered scope and importance of organic manure production in Goa, principles and concepts of organic farming, seed treatment, and priming methods, green manure seed production and its role in soil health. Experts from ICAR-KVK and ICAR-CCARI dealt various low cost and eco-friendly technologies such as  production of phosphorus-enriched organic manure, various composting methods, preparation and application of fermented organic liquid manures, azolla cultivation and utilization, vermicompost production techniques, role of organic farming in floriculture and landscaping & preparation of traditional organic formulations such as Neemastra, Brahmastra, Dasparni Ark, and Agniastra, supported with field demonstrations. The programme concluded with a post-evaluation, trainee feedback session, and a valedictory ceremony, during which participants expressed appreciation for the practical demonstrations and hands-on learning opportunities provided throughout the training.as part of the program, celebrated world soil day in the theme of healthy soil for Healthy cities.  A total of 42 participants (1 male and 41 females) attended and benefited in this event. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Rahul Kumar, Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Dr. Paramesha V, Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, Dr. Nivya K. R., Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati, and Mr. Aishwar Kumar Tiwari.
