पोषण-स्मार्ट कृषि: आईसीएआर–केवीके, सीसीएआरआई उत्तर गोवा द्वारा जैव-संवर्धित रागी की खेती को बढ़ावा
आईसीएआर–कृषि विज्ञान केंद्र (केवीके), उत्तर गोवा, आईसीएआर–केंद्रीय तटीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान, ओल्ड गोवा के अंतर्गत, द्वारा 05 अगस्त 2026 को उगावेम पंचायत, पेरनेम, उत्तर गोवा में “स्वास्थ्य एवं समृद्धि के लिए जैव-संवर्धित रागी के माध्यम से पोषण-स्मार्ट कृषि को बढ़ावा देना” विषय पर प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य किसानों को रागी की वैज्ञानिक पोषक तत्व प्रबंधन तकनीकों के बारे में जानकारी प्रदान करना तथा पोषण सुरक्षा, जलवायु सहनशीलता और कृषि लाभप्रदता बढ़ाने के लिए जैव-संवर्धित रागी की किस्म ‘इंद्रावती’ की खेती को बढ़ावा देना था।
कार्यक्रम की मुख्य अतिथि सुश्री सिया सुनील धुरी, उप सरपंच, उगावेम-तांबोक्सेम, मोपा, उत्तर गोवा थीं। अपने संबोधन में उन्होंने आईसीएआर–केवीके, सीसीएआरआई उत्तर गोवा द्वारा किसानों के हित में आयोजित किए जा रहे प्रशिक्षण कार्यक्रमों की सराहना की। उन्होंने किसानों को पोषण सुरक्षा, बेहतर स्वास्थ्य और कृषि आय में वृद्धि के लिए जैव-संवर्धित रागी ‘इंद्रावती’ की खेती अपनाने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। उन्होंने वैज्ञानिक कृषि पद्धतियों के महत्व पर भी जोर दिया और किसानों से आईसीएआर–केवीके द्वारा आयोजित भविष्य के प्रसार कार्यक्रमों में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लेने का आग्रह किया।
डॉ. एन. बोम्मयासामी, वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक एवं प्रमुख, आईसीएआर–केवीके, उत्तर गोवा, ने अपने संबोधन में पोषण सुरक्षा में सुधार तथा किसानों की आय बढ़ाने में जैव-संवर्धित रागी की किस्म ‘इंद्रावती’ के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने इसके पोषण एवं स्वास्थ्य लाभों की जानकारी देते हुए किसानों को इस जलवायु-सहिष्णु फसल की खेती के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। उन्होंने रागी के मूल्य संवर्धन के बारे में भी जागरूक किया तथा रागी के आटे, लड्डू, माल्ट, बिस्कुट एवं अन्य पौष्टिक खाद्य उत्पाद तैयार करने की संभावनाओं का प्रदर्शन किया। उन्होंने बताया कि ऐसे मूल्य-वर्धित उत्पाद कृषि परिवारों के लिए अतिरिक्त आय का स्रोत बन सकते हैं।
श्री राहुल कुमार, विषय विशेषज्ञ (कृषि विज्ञान), आईसीएआर–केवीके, उत्तर गोवा, ने रागी की खेती की समेकित कृषि तकनीकों पर व्याख्यान दिया। इसमें भूमि की तैयारी, बीज उपचार, बुवाई, समेकित पोषक तत्व प्रबंधन, खरपतवार प्रबंधन तथा फसल संरक्षण जैसे महत्वपूर्ण विषयों को शामिल किया गया। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि रागी की खेती खुले खेतों के साथ-साथ अंतरवर्ती फसल प्रणाली में भी की जा सकती है, जिससे किसान अपने भूमि संसाधनों का अधिक कुशल उपयोग करने के साथ-साथ फसल विविधीकरण को बढ़ावा दे सकते हैं।
कार्यक्रम में कुल 31 किसानों, जिनमें 22 पुरुष एवं 09 महिला किसान शामिल थे, ने भाग लिया। कार्यक्रम के समापन पर सभी प्रतिभागियों को जैव-संवर्धित रागी ‘इंद्रावती’ के बीज वितरित किए गए, ताकि पोषक तत्वों से भरपूर मोटे अनाज की खेती को बढ़ावा मिले तथा क्षेत्र में पोषण सुरक्षा को सुदृढ़ किया जा सके।
कार्यक्रम का समन्वय श्री राहुल कुमार, विषय विशेषज्ञ (कृषि विज्ञान) तथा डॉ. एन. बोम्मयासामी, वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक एवं प्रमुख, आईसीएआर–कृषि विज्ञान केंद्र (केवीके), उत्तर गोवा द्वारा किया गया।
Nutri-Smart Agriculture: ICAR–KVK, CCARI North Goa Promotes Biofortified Finger Millet
ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, under the ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, organized a training on " Promoting Nutri-Smart Agriculture with Biofortified Finger Millet for Health and Prosperity " at Ugavem Panchayat, Pernem, North Goa, on 05 August 2026. The programme aimed to enhance farmers' knowledge on scientific nutrient management in finger millet cultivation while promoting the cultivation of the biofortified finger millet variety 'Indravati' to improve nutritional security, climate resilience, and farm profitability.
Ms. Siya Sunil Dhuri, Deputy Sarpanch, Ugavem-Tamboxem, Mopa, North Goa, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she appreciated the efforts of ICAR–KVK, CCARI North Goa in organizing farmer-oriented training programmes and encouraged farmers to adopt the cultivation of biofortified finger millet (Indravati) to improve nutritional security, promote better health, and enhance farm income. She also emphasized the importance of scientific farming practices and urged farmers to actively participate in future extension programmes organized by ICAR–KVK.
Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR–KVK, North Goa. In his address, he highlighted the importance of the biofortified finger millet variety 'Indravati' in improving nutritional security and enhancing farmers' income. He explained its nutritional and health benefits and encouraged farmers to cultivate this climate-resilient crop. He also created awareness about the value addition of finger millet and demonstrated its potential for preparing products such as flour, laddoos, malt, biscuits, and other nutritious food products, which can generate additional income for farm families.
Mr. Rahul Kumar, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), ICAR–KVK, North Goa, delivered a lecture on the package of practices for finger millet cultivation, covering land preparation, seed treatment, sowing, integrated nutrient management, weed management, and crop protection. He also explained that finger millet can be cultivated under open field conditions as well as in intercropping systems, enabling farmers to utilize their land resources more efficiently and diversify their cropping systems.
A total of 31 farmers, comprising 22 male and 09 female participants, attended the programme. At the conclusion of the programme, biofortified finger millet (Indravati) seeds were distributed to all participants to promote the cultivation of nutrient-rich millets and enhance nutritional security in the region. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Rahul Kumar, Subject Matter Specialist (Agronomy), and Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa.
