ICAR-CCARI, Goa organized Training-cum-Distribution under Institute NEH Fund in collaboration with ICAR-NRC on Yak, Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh
To promote livestock-based livelihoods in the North Eastern Hill (NEH) region through awareness, skill development and sustainable production, ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute organized two Training-cum-Distribution Programmes under the Institute NEH Fund on 24–25 February 2026 in collaboration with ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak and the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The first programme, held at ICAR-NRC on Yak, Dirang on 24 February 2026, was attended by 75 farmers (51 males and 24 females) from 11 villages of West Kameng district. The second programme, conducted at Jang, Tawang on 25 February 2026, saw participation of 80 farmers (75 males and 5 females) from 13 villages. Emphasis was placed on the judicious use of livestock technologies for sustainable development.
Scientists from both institutes delivered lectures on breeding, health and reproductive management. Dr. Amiya Ranjan Sahu highlighted the benefits of the NEH Fund and low-cost breeding practices, Dr. Shirish D. Narnaware focused on livestock health and medicinal supplements, Dr. Gokuldas P.P. stressed improved reproductive management, and Dr. Martina Pukhrambam advised preventing inbreeding through mating of unrelated animals.
Essential livestock inputs - including cattle feed, tarpaulin sheets, solar lights, mineral mixtures, calcium supplements and deworming medicineswere distributed to all beneficiary farmers.
The programmes were conducted under the guidance of Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, and Dr. Mihir Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NRC on Yak, Dirang and coordinated by scientists of both institutes along with Veterinary Officers from Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
