Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan: Officers of 66th NDC Course visits ICAR–CCARI, Goa

    ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR–CCARI), Goa, hosted the officers of the 66thNational Defence College (NDC) Course for a study visit on 2 February 2026, showcasing the Institute’s best practices and innovative research initiatives in coastal agriculture. The visit formed part of the NDC programme coordinated at the Goa Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (GIPARD), Government of Goa, and was attended by a distinguished delegation of 16 officers, including 10 officers from India and 6 international officers from Sri Lanka, Myanmar, UAE, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and Kenya, reflecting the global relevance of India’s agricultural innovations. The programme began with a welcome address by the Director, ICAR–CCARI, who briefly outlined the Institute’s mandate, key achievements, and contributions towards sustainable and climate-resilient coastal agriculture. This was followed by a focused presentation by Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Senior Scientist (Soil Science), highlighting the Institute’s flagship research, integrated farming approaches, and technology-led solutions for soil, water, and ecosystem management. The visiting officers engaged in an enriching interaction with the Director and scientists on critical contemporary issues such as the responsible use of agrochemicals, natural farming, antimicrobial resistance, water harvesting, and resource efficiency. A guided field visit led by Dr. Vinod A. Ubarhande, ACTO (Farm Superintendent) provided first-hand exposure to the coconut-based integrated farming system, nursery and planting material units, biomass recycling, livestock units, and the Livestock Waste Valorization System with Jeevamrut Production Technology. The visit strongly echoed the national vision of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Vigyan”, underscoring the seamless integration of science, agriculture, and nation-building in addressing present and future challenges.
