Exposure visit and training programme for farmers from Malwan, Maharashtra

    The UMED Maharashtra Sindhudurg Malvan Self-Help Group, consisting of 43 female farmers and 4 male coordinators, visited ICAR-CCARI Goa on 6 May 2026 for an exposure visit and training programme. Shri. Trivesh Mayekar, Scientist (Fish Breeding and Genetics), ICAR-CCARI, interacted with the group and discussed freshwater aquaculture technologies and fish culture practices with the farmers. Dr. Sreekanth G. B., Senior Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management), ICAR-CCARI, provided information on fisheries technologies and created awareness regarding invasive fish species management. Dr. Sanjay Uddharwar, SMS (Animal Science), briefly informed the participants about livestock management, animal health and diseases, along with awareness on soil health management and the balanced use of fertilizers. Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Agronomy), explained natural farming practices and also conducted an awareness session on soil health management and balanced fertilizer usage. Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar, Young Professional-I, ICAR-CCARI Goa, guided the participants during visits to the fisheries unit, dairy unit, piggery unit, poultry unit, vermicompost shed, and nursery unit. The group also visited KVK North Goa, where they were exposed to the buffalo unit and goat unit. Dr. Vinod Ubarhande, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Farm Superintendent), ICAR-CCARI Goa, provided information about the Nakshatra Garden located on the KVK campus. The exposure visit and training programme were coordinated by Shri. Trivesh Mayekar, Dr.Sreekanth GB, Dr. Sanjay Uddharwar, Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar, Mr. Ravikiran Kambli, Mr. Viresh Pawar, Mr. Vikrant Manjarekar, and Mr. Sachin Kirloskar (UMED Maharashtra).
