ICAR- CCARI conducted a Farmer Interface Meeting and Animal Health Camp at Kirlos, Malvan, Sindhudurg, Maharashtra under institute SCSP
ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, ICAR-CCARI Goa organized a Farmer Interface Meeting, followed by an Animal Health Camp at Kirlos, Tal. Malvan, Dist. Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, on 14th August 2025, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kirlos, Sindhudurg, Maharashtra under institute Scheduled Caste Sub Plan.
Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Senior Scientist (Veterinary Pathology) briefed about the various activities of ICAR-CCARI, Goa mandated for the coastal region. He also explained the role of livestock and poultry farming in improving the livelihood of farmers.
Dr S.V. Udharwar, SMS (Animal Science), ICAR-KVK North Goa gave detail insights into reproductive health management in dairy animals and also details on poultry and goat rearing.
Dr K.V. Desai, SMS (Animal Science), KVK-Kirlos delivered a lecture on feeding management for livestock to improve productivity. Dr Vilas Sawant, SMS (Extension Education) delivered a lecture on natural farming and its benefits for sustainable agriculture. Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar, YP-I, ICAR-CCARI gave a talk on ornamental fisheries and crab farming, emphasizing opportunities for rural youth and small-scale farmers.
During the animal health camp, Dr. Shirish D. Narnaware and Dr. S.V. Udharwar provided treatment advise for 35 backyard poultry birds. In addition, Dr. S.V. Udharwar also conducted pregnancy diagnosis in 10 cows during the camp. A total of 23 SC farmers, including 16 males and 7 females participated in the programme. During the interaction, the farmers shown keen interest in adapting goat and poultry farming in future.
The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr S.V. Udharwar, Dr. Shirish D. Narnaware, Dr. Sreekanth G.B., Dr. K.V. Desai and Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar.
