ICAR-CCARI, Goa Conducted Training on ‘Entrepreneurship Development Opportunities in Livestock, Poultry, and Fish Farming’ and Input distribution under SCSP
ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa conducted a three-days Training on ‘Entrepreneurship Development Opportunities in Livestock, Poultry, and Fish Farming’ at ICAR-CCARI, Goa from 28 to 30 January, 2026. The programme was conducted under Institute Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kirlos, Sindhudurg with the aim of enhancing livelihood opportunities for Scheduled Caste farmers through improved and scientific livestock, poultry and fish farming practices. A total of 23 Scheduled Caste farmers, including 11 women and 12 men from Kirlos, Sindhudurg and Ponda, Goa participated enthusiastically in the training. The training program encompassed a blend of instructive theoretical lectures, informative practical field visits and demonstrations in institute’s dairy, poultry, piggery, fishery and goat farms facilitated by scientists and the project team of ICAR-CCARI, Goa. In addition, visit was also made in Livestock waste valorization system where the farmers were given demonstration on production of Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM) and Jeevamrut.
Shri. Yusuf Pathan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Baharampur constituency (West Bengal) and Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa handed over the certificates to the trainees during the valedictory program. The Director during his speech urged all the farmers to share the knowledge gained from this 3 days training program with other farmers and motivated them to work in participatory mode and also urged to make use of the knowledge gained during the training programme for enhancing their income and livelihood. Shri. Balakrishna Gawade, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Sindhudurg and Dr. Keshav Desai, SMS (Animal Science), KVK, Sindhudurg also graced the occasion during the valedictory program.
In addition to the informative lectures and field demonstrations, the event also included the distribution of inputs like essential veterinary medicines and supplements, plastic utility crates along with phosphate rich organic manure (PROM) and Jeevamrut.
The training programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Shirish D. Narnaware, Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, Dr. Sreekanth G.B. and Dr. Amiya Ranjan Sahu.
