Farmer Awareness programme for ST Women at Kundaim, Goa
ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI) conducted an awareness programme for Scheduled Tribe (ST) women farmers at Kundaim, Mardol, Goa, on 23rd September 2025 focusing on key areas such as vegetable farming, kulagar farming, dairy and poultry rearing, wild animal management in crop fields, and harvesting systems for plantation crops. A total of 30 women farmers attended the programme. The programme aimed to empower tribal women with practical knowledge and sustainable farming practices suited to the region's agro-climatic conditions. The team included Dr. Gokuldas PP (Sr. Scientist, Animal Reproduction), Dr. Sreekanth G.B. (Sr. Scientist, Fisheries Resource Management), Smt. Madina Solapuri (Ass. Chief Technical Officer), and Shri Mrudul Pendurkar (Young Professional-I), who interacted and encouraged the participants to adopt scientific farming practices, reinforcing ICAR-CCARI’s commitment to inclusive agricultural development and livelihood enhancement for tribal communities. The farmers appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CCARI and requested to support them with the training and inputs for the agriculture and livestock farming. Dr. Sreekanth, Dr. Gokuldas, Dr. Amiya R Sahu, Smt. Madina Solapuri and Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar coordinated the programme.
