खेत बचाओ अभियान के अंतर्गत वैज्ञानिक–कृषि आदान विक्रेता संवाद कार्यक्रम के माध्यम से किसानों तक पहुंच को सुदृढ़ किया गया
Khet Bachao Abhiyan Strengthens Farmer Outreach through Scientist-Input Dealer Interaction in Goa
ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa, under ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, organized a Scientist–Input Dealer Interaction Programme under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan at Bandora village in collaboration with Paradeep Phosphates Group, Goa on 16/06/2026. The programme focused on promoting the balanced and judicious use of fertilizers and encouraging the adoption of organic nutrient sources such as farmyard manure, cow dung, compost, vermicompost, green manures, and biofertilizers for sustainable soil health management and enhanced crop productivity.
Mr. Shivdas Gaonkar, Deputy Director (INM), Department of Agriculture, Government of Goa, encouraged input dealers to play an active role in promoting sustainable soil health management practices among farmers. He emphasized the importance of balanced nutrient management, the use of organic inputs, and the adoption of environmentally sustainable agricultural practices for enhancing soil fertility and crop productivity.
Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, North Goa, welcomed the participants and briefed them on the concept of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM). He highlighted the objectives of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan and emphasized the importance of green manuring, green leaf manuring, biofertilizers, and enriched organic manures, along with the judicious and balanced use of chemical fertilizers, to sustain soil fertility, enhance nutrient-use efficiency, and ensure long-term agricultural productivity.Mr. Kalidas Sawant, Regional Head, Paradeep Phosphates Group, advocated soil test-based fertilizer recommendations for efficient nutrient management.Dr. S.V. Udharwar, SMS (Animal Science) emphasized the role of organic manures in improving soil health and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. Dr. Nivya K.R. stressed the importance of recycling agricultural and garden wastes through leaf composting.The input dealers actively participated in the discussion and expressed their commitment to supporting the objectives of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan by creating awareness among farmers and facilitating the adoption of recommended nutrient management practices.
A total of 33 input dealers from across Goa and seven officials from KVK, the Department of Agriculture, and Goa Bagayatdar participated in the programme. The programme was coordinated by Dr. S.V. Udharwar, Dr. Nivya K.R., Dr. N. Bommayasamy, and Mr. Mandar Savaikar.
