Promoting Soil Health: ICAR-CCARI and Goa Bagayatdar’s Joint Green Manuring Campaign
In alignment with today’s national launch of Khet Bachao Abhiyan, ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa and Goa Bagayatdar have joined hands to promote Green Manures in arecanut plantations to improve soil health and farm profitability. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, and Shri. Narendra Keshav Sawaikar, Chairman, Goa Bagayatdar SKVSM took keen interest in this partnership to make it a reality.
What will happen next:

In about a week, Dhaincha seeds will be distributed to kulagarfamers from ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa.

Why Dhaincha: It naturally improves soil fertility, enhances water retention, suppresses weeds, and reduces the need for expensive chemical fertilizers.
Data Collection & Peer Learning:To foster a data-driven approach, participating farmers will be requested to share field-level feedback and photos at regular intervals. This will allow other farmers to learn from these documented experiences.
Community Mobilization: All Kulagar farmers and Goa Bagayatdar members were requested to join this movement and to make this initiative a success for the future of Goan agriculture.
This partnership between ICAR-CCARI and Goa’s largest cooperative acts as a force multiplier by combining cutting-edge scientific expertise with a robust grassroots network to accelerate soil health restoration and ensure farmer prosperity across the state.
