Scientists’ Exposure Visit to ICAR–CCARI, Goa under IIPA–DST Training Programme
A team of 21 scientists participating in the 23rdFoundation Training Programme for Scientists & Technologists, organised by the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi and sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, visited the ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa on 25thFebruary 2026.
The visiting scientists, drawn from premier institutions across the country including CSIR, DRDO, ICMR, IMD, Mizoram Science, Technology & Innovation Council, NSTMIS, National Geospatial Programme (DST), and WISE-KIRAN (DST), were warmly welcomed by the Director, Dr. Parveen Kumar, who briefed them on the institute’s mandate, major research programmes, and key achievements in coastal agriculture and climate-resilient farming systems. Dr. Vinod Ubarhande delivered a detailed presentation on “Best Practices and Innovative Research Initiatives of ICAR–CCARI,” highlighting farmer-oriented technologies, integrated farming approaches, and ongoing innovative research efforts. This was followed by an interactive session and an extensive field visit to various experimental farms, research units, and demonstration sites, where ongoing experiments and technologies were explained in detail.
The field visit and programme were coordinated by Dr. Vinod Ubarhande, Farm Superintendent, along with Shri Rahul Kulkarni, ACTO. The visit provided the participants with valuable practical exposure and insights into applied agricultural research and sustainable development relevant to coastal regions, making it a highly enriching learning experience.
