‘6th National Water Award 2024’ - Gratitude & Celebration Programme

 

ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute Goa, organised the “National Water Award 2024 – Gratitude & Celebration Programme on 21st November 2025. The event marked the celebration of the institute receiving the ‘6th National Water Awards 2024’, conferred by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji, with First Rank in the ‘Best Institution Other than School & College – Inside Campus’ category. Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Govt. of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A warm welcome followed by ‘Vande Mataram’ marked the formal beginning of the event. The Director, ICAR–CCARI, Dr. Parveen Kumar, felicitated the chief guest and expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Hon’ble MP and Shri Rajesh Faldessai, Hon’ble MLA, Govt. of Goa, for their crucial initial support while proposing and seconding the award application of the CCARI, upon their critical observations of the Institute’s water conservation/management efforts.

An institute video on the National Water Award 2024 was screened, highlighting CCARI’s efforts in rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, farm pond systems, water-use efficiency models for fish based IFS and Agro-forestry led water conservations. The Director and team members shared their experiences and the collective journey that led to this national milestone. Dr. Parveen Kumar emphasised the institute’s commitment to sustainable water management and its future directions in coastal agricultural research.

As a mark of appreciation, the core team members who played a pivotal role in achieving this ‘National Water Award 2024’ were felicitated with certificates by the chief guest. In last one year, their contributions in planning, implementing, documenting and presenting CCARI’s water conservation initiatives before ground verification committee; were duly acknowledged.

In his addresses, Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Hon’ble MP congratulated ICAR–CCARI for its outstanding achievement. He appreciated the institute’s innovative work in water conservation and assured continued support for future initiatives for the Goan farmers. Dr. Vinod A. Ubarhande organised and coordinated this programme, with technical support of Smt. Pranjali Wadekar, Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati and Dr. Subhradip Bhattacharjee.
