Workshop on Ecosystem service analysis in coastal systems and wetlands
A workshop on “Ecosystem Service Analysis in Coastal Systems and Wetlands” was organized by the Department of Zoology under the Zoology Study Forum of Ponda Education Society's Ravi S. Naik College of Arts and Science, Farmagudi, in association with ICAR–CCARI, Goa, on 9 March 2026. During the workshop, Dr. Sreekanth G. B., Senior Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management), ICAR–CCARI, Goa, delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the ecological and economic importance of estuaries and wetland ecosystems, fisheries resources, and invasive fish species. The session covered key aspects such as ecosystem services, stakeholder participation, evaluation methods, and management strategies for controlling invasive fish species. The workshop was attended by 56 participants(12 male and 44 female), including students (48) and teachers. Participants appreciated the valuable insights gained and expressed their commitment to the conservation of wetlands and estuarine ecosystems and invasive fish species. The programme also encouraged to organize similar initiatives in the future to enhance awareness and promote sustainable ecosystem management.
