
Senior-Level Fertiliser Industry Officials Oriented on Balanced Fertiliser Use under Climate-Smart Agriculture
A Management Development Programme was organised by the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI), Western Region, at Calangute, North Goa, on April 23, 2026. As part of the event, a technical session on “Balanced Fertiliser Use under Climate-Smart Agriculture” was conducted. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK, CCARI, Goa, delivered an expert lecture on the importance of balanced fertiliser use in the context of climate-smart agriculture. He highlighted the need for balanced and precision nutrient management to improve crop productivity, enhance nutrient use efficiency, reduce environmental pollution, and build resilience to climate change.He emphasised the importance of site-specific integrated nutrient management, green manuring, biofortified crops, and phosphate-rich organic manures and slow and controlled-release fertiliser formulations for sustaining soil fertility and long-term agricultural productivity.
Dr. Bommayasamy also stressed the significance of integrating digital tools and weather-based agro-advisory services for climate-smart nutrient management. He explained that blending scientific nutrient management practices with traditional agricultural knowledge can help farmers adapt better to changing climatic conditions while maintaining sustainable crop production. He further highlighted that precision nutrient management supported by digital technologies can significantly enhance fertiliser use efficiency. Twenty senior and middle-level management officials’ representatives from various fertilizer companies such as Indian Potash Ltd, Indian Farmers Fertilizer Coop Ltd, Coromandel International Limited, Rashtiya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd, Hindalco Industries Ltd, Vedant Agro Science technologies Pvt Ltd, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, ICL Growing Solutions, Hindusthan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd. attended the event.
