
Director General of Police, Goa, Visited ICAR–CCARI
Shri Alok Kumar, IPS, Director General of Police (DGP), Goa, visited ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa on 20th June 2026. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR–CCARI warmly welcomed Hon’ble DGP and apprised him about the Institute’s research, development, extension, and capacity-building activities aimed at enhancing the sustainability and resilience of coastal agriculture.
The Hon’ble DGP was taken on an extensive tour of the Institute’s research farm, field, and soil science laboratory facilities, where he was briefed on various technologies and innovations developed for the coastal ecosystem. During the visit, he toured the Integrated Farming System (IFS) units, where different crop, livestock, fisheries, and horticultural enterprises are integrated to enhance resource-use efficiency, farm profitability, and sustainability. The Hon’ble DGP appreciated the Institute’s sustainability initiatives and visited the Biomass Recycling Unit, Biogas Unit, and PROM (Phosphate Rich Organic Manure) Production Unit, where innovative approaches for recycling farm and organic wastes into valuable agricultural inputs were demonstrated. He also visited the Animal Science Unit, Fodder Cafeteria, Poultry and Hatchery Unit, where integrated livestock-based farming practices, diverse fodder resources, and resource-efficient production systems were showcased.
The Hon’ble DGP further visited the Agricultural Eco-Tourism (AET) Facility, Astrologically Significant Navagraha–Rashi–Nakshatra Vatika, Bambusetum, and various natural resource management structures, including rainwater harvesting and water conservation facilities. He was also informed about the Institute’s extensive outreach and capacity-building programmes through which thousands of farmers, students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and other stakeholders are trained annually on sustainable agricultural practices and emerging technologies.
The DGP appreciated the Institute’s multidisciplinary research and development efforts in coastal agriculture and commended its innovative technologies, sustainable farming practices, and well-maintained research and demonstration facilities that serve as valuable learning platforms for farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Gopal Mahajan, Dr. Uthappa A. R., and Dr. Vinod A. Ubarhande, who briefed the Hon’ble DGP on the various field experiments, demonstration units, and research facilities established at the Institute.
