Dr. A. K. Nayak, Hon'ble DDG (NRM), Visited ICAR-CCARI, Goa

Dr. A.K. Nayak, Hon'ble DDG (Natural Resource Management), ICAR, New Delhi, visited ICAR - Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, from 27th to 29th October 2025. During his maiden visit to the Institute, he meticulously supervised all field experiments and units covering multiple aspects of research on Natural Resource Management, Crop Science, Horticulture, Animal and Fisheries Science, Agro-ecotourism and other developmental activities. He provided valuable suggestions on each area of research, focusing on the sustainability of the coastal ecosystem through critical and forward-thinking approaches. He encouraged the scientists to undertake scientific studies that assess not only outputs but also outcomes and impacts, with an emphasis on convergence across disciplines.

During this visit, he explored both the lowland and upland ecosystems on the Institute’s farms, KVK, North Goa and guided on transitioning from conventional methods to high-throughput techniques. He also stressed the importance of fostering collaborations among scientists and experts across coastal regions to achieve collective and rapid results. The Hon'ble DDG applauded the Institute’s multi-faceted research activities and research farms. He assured the Institute of continued support in strengthening its infrastructure and resource availability, crucial for supporting research programmes for coastal India. In a personal interaction session with the staff and project team, Dr. Nayak attentively listened to their perspectives and shared the expectations of both the ICAR and the Government of India for research institutes.

Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, briefed on the institute's significant achievements in research, extension, awards and collaborations. He highlighted the various varieties, breeds, technologies and intellectual property rights generated by the CCARI team with minimum resources. The Director also assured that the institute’s research programmes are aligned with the Govt. of India’s flagship initiatives, contributing to the vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047'.

    The visit and interaction programme were coordinated by Dr. R.S. Rajkumar and Dr. Vinod Ubarhande, under the guidance of Dr. Parveen Kumar, and with the support of the CCARI team.
