Awareness cum distribution programme at Sindhdurg, Maharashtra under SCSP

     An Awareness-cum-Distribution Programme was organized by the ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, at Oras, Sindhudurg, on 3 February 2026,. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar, Young Professional–I, who welcomed the participants and scientists, followed by an interaction session by Dr. Sreekanth GB, Senior Scientist (Fisheries), who discussed coastal agriculture and existing farming practices, emphasizing diversified farming systems integrating livestock, poultry, and fisheries to enhance farmers’ livelihoods and income, the importance of organic vegetable production for household consumption, the potential of community ponds for polyculture to support small and marginal farmers, and the need to develop agro-ecotourism models for sustainable business development. During the programme, arecanut and cashew plants, azolla beds, and extension leaflets were distributed to the farmers. The programme was attended by 17 Scheduled Caste farmers, including 8 women, and was successfully coordinated by Dr. Sreekanth G. B., Mr. Mrudul Pendurkar, Mrs. SushamaSakhare, and Shri PaurasKamble, Coir Board, Sindhdurg, Maharashtra, concluding with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. SushamaSakhare.
