Community Outreach and Technical Briefing on Sustainable Soil Management

An interactive community engagement session was organized for the farmers of Arla, Keri Village, Goa, to facilitate the exchange of critical knowledge on enhancing agricultural productivity through sustainable practices on 6 May 2026,. The session focused on the foundational importance of soil testing and comprehensive soil health management as a prerequisite for ensuring long-term farm viability. Participants (nine male and one female) were sensitized to the imperative of adopting a balanced nutrient management strategy, which harmonizes the use of organic manures with the precise, timely application of recommended fertilizer doses to prevent resource waste and environmental runoff.
In addition to traditional management, the briefing introduced farmers to natural farming formulations and alternative bio-resources designed to foster robust and healthy crop growth by enriching soil microbial activity. This outreach served as a vital platform for disseminating evidence-based advocacy, urging the farming community to move beyond excessive chemical dependency and adopt a data-driven approach to nutrient application. The interaction empowered Arla Keri's farmers with the skills necessary to optimize input-use efficiency and ensure ecological sustainability.
