Dr. A.K. Nayak, DDG(NRM) Interacts with Farmers at ICAR-CCARI, Goa
The Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR, Dr. Nayak, visited ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, on 2 October 2026 and interacted with farmers on issues related to agricultural productivity, profitability and livelihood improvement. During the interaction, responding to farmers’ concerns regarding the need to enhance cashew productivity in Goa, Dr. Nayak advised farmers to adopt improved scientific management practices for better yields. He also encouraged ICAR-CCARI scientists to evaluate suitable cashew varieties and germplasm from the ICAR- Directorate of Cashew Research (ICAR-DCR), Puttur, under Goan conditions and identify promising materials for wider adoption. Dr. Nayak emphasised that improving farm profitability requires a holistic approach beyond production, with focus on market linkages, value addition and incubation support to create better income opportunities for farmers. He further stressed the importance of transfer of technology as a complete package, integrating improved technologies with the distribution of quality inputs such as seeds and planting material. Such an integrated approach, he noted, can contribute significantly to enhancing farm productivity, profitability and the overall livelihood security of farmers.
