Awareness Campaign on Integrated Nutrient Management for Climate Resilient Soil and Ecosystem Restoration organized by ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, under ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa organised an awareness campaign on Integrated nutrient management for climate resilient soil and ecosystem restoration on May 11, 2026 at Parra, Bardez taluka, North Goa. The event organized as part of an intensive campaign on the balanced use of fertilizers, the programme aimed to create awareness among farmers on the importance of integrated nutrient management for improving soil fertility, enhancing nutrient use efficiency, restoring ecosystem health, and building climate-resilient agricultural systems. The experts highlighted the role of balanced and judicious application of fertilizers in combination with organic manures, biofertilizers, green manuring, crop residues, and locally available organic resources for sustaining soil productivity and reducing environmental degradation. Experts emphasized that integrated nutrient management practices help improve soil organic carbon, maintain soil microbial activity, enhance water holding capacity, and reduce nutrient losses, thereby contributing to long-term agricultural sustainability and ecosystem restoration. During the campaign, farmers were sensitized on soil test-based nutrient application, efficient fertilizer management, recycling of farm waste, and the importance of adopting eco-friendly nutrient management practices under changing climatic conditions. The experts also explained the adverse effects of indiscriminate use of fertilizers on soil health, water quality, and biodiversity, and encouraged farmers to adopt integrated approaches for sustainable crop production. Farmers actively participated in the programme and appreciated the initiative for enhancing awareness on sustainable soil and ecosystem management practices. The campaign witnessed the participation of 13 farmers and farm women and the program was coordinated by Dr. Nivya K. R.
