Hon’ble Vice-President of India visits ICAR-CCARI, Goa

    In a momentous occasion for the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, the Hon’ble Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, along with Dr. (Smt.) Sudesh Dhankhar, graced the Institute with their esteemed presence for an interaction programme with scientists and farmers on 22nd May 2025.

    The Hon’ble Vice-President and Dr. (Smt.) Sudesh Dhankhar inaugurated the event by planting coconut saplings under the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, symbolizing a heartfelt tribute to motherhood and environmental stewardship.

    During the visit, the Hon’ble Vice-President took a walk-through of the technology and product exhibition organized by the Institute and KVK, where a range of innovative research outputs, technologies, and value-added products developed by the Institute and farmers were showcased.

    In his address, the Hon’ble Vice-President lauded the government’s farmer-centric policies being implemented through the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. He commended the pivotal role played by farmers in ensuring national food security and urged them to adopt processing, packaging, and marketing skills for farm produce to become entrepreneurs. He emphasized the importance of natural farming for sustainable agriculture.  Appreciating the efforts of ICAR-CCARI, the Hon’ble Vice-President personally interacted with farmers and scientists, acknowledging their vital contributions to coastal agriculture.

    Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, welcomed the dignitaries and briefed the Hon’ble Vice-President on the Institute’s multidisciplinary research and extension efforts, which are empowering coastal farmers. He highlighted how the Institute’s work aligns with national priorities and flagship schemes while also documenting success stories and facilitating farmer recognition at various platforms.

    The programme was attended by Shri Rajesh Faldessai, Hon’ble MLA, Govt. of Goa, Padma Shri Farmer Shri Sanjay Anant Patil, the District Collector of North Goa, and a gathering of farmers, scientists, and staff members.

    The visit marked a significant chapter in the journey of ICAR-CCARI, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and farmer-oriented agricultural innovation in the coastal regions of India.
