ICAR CCARI and KVK North Goa successfully completed Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan

 

The ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, successfully completed the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) – a 15-day pre-Kharif campaign held from 29th May to 12th June 2025. Shri Sadanand Shet Tanawade, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) graced the valedictory function of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan as a Chief Guest, today on 12th June 2025 at ICAR CCARI, Goa. He praised the institute's initiatives and acknowledged the collaborative efforts made under VKSA to strengthen the agricultural landscape of Goa and also conveyed best wishes for further endeavours of Institute and KVK to make a positive impact in coastal farmers lives. He urged the farmers to make use of government schemes and the technical knowledge for making Goan agriculture self-reliant.

The valedictory event commenced with VKSA theme song and a welcome address by Dr. Bommayasamy N., Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK, North Goa. The programme featured a felicitation ceremony for progressive lady farmers guided and supported by the experts of Institute and KVK. The KVK Team was also felicitated by the dignitaries for their recognition by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Goa. Dr. Manohara K.K., Nodal Officer, VKSA, presented a brief summary of the campaign’s impact and outreach, followed by a showcase of VKSA activity glimpses. Shri Sandeep B. Foldessai, Director of Agriculture interacted with the farmers and appealed to take benefit of different schemes available for Goan farmers. Shri Sandeep Dharkar, General Manager, NABARD, Goa highlighted the importance of collaboration among line departments in success of this campaign. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, in his address, briefed the dignitaries about glorious journey of agriculture in last 70 years and the role of ICAR in the growth of agriculture in country. He reaffirmed that ICAR CCARI and KVK North Goa will not leave any stone unturned to address the issues with need and solution based research approach.

The VKSA campaign was a coordinated and intensive outreach effort that included daily farmer meetings, interactive sessions, and live demonstrations of agricultural technologies. The campaign was led by two dedicated teams from ICAR-CCARI and KVK North Goa, in close collaboration with the Directorate of Agriculture, ATMA North Goa, Directorate of AH & VS, Directorate of Fisheries, Govt. of Goa, and NABARD, Goa. SIDDHA unit of AYUSH, organized health camps in various villages with a team of doctors, ensuring a holistic approach to rural wellbeing. This integrated initiative reached 63 villages across Goa, effectively delivering scientific knowledge, technical support, and health services at the grassroots level. ICAR-CCARI Scientists, KVK Subject Matter Specialists, and Technical Staff played a pivotal role in meticulously planning and executing the campaign with wholehearted commitment and energy.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, SMS (Ani. Science). Shri Rahul Kulkarni and Shri Vinod Ubarhande compered and coordinated the programme.
