As part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (Pre- Kharif Campaign), KVK North Goa and ICAR-CCARI organized an awareness programme on 5th June 2025 at Tambose village, Pernem Taluk. The event aimed to prepare farmers for the Kharif season and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Experts from KVK and ICAR CCARI provided guidance on agro-advisories for rice, cashew, and coconut, pest and disease management, soil test-based nutrient management, leafy vegetable cultivation, and dry fodder conservation. Emphasis was also placed on natural and organic farming, including the use of vermicompost and Jeevamrut, encouraging eco-friendly, low-cost methods to enhance soil fertility and crop health. Awareness on value addition in plantation crops, government schemes, and World Environment Day was also part of the programme.
The event saw participation from local leaders including Mr. Subodh Mahale, Sarpanch, Mr. Ranjit Melhapswkar, ZAO Pernem, and Mr. Nitin A. Pens, Branch Manager, Goa State Cooperative Bank, who interacted with farmers and encouraged sustainable practices.
