ICAR-CCARI Conducts 6-Day Training Programme on Soil Testing and Soil Health Management
The ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR–CCARI), Goa, successfully organized a six-day training programme from 6-11 May 2025, followed by a one-day refresher training on 6th June 2025, titled “Soil Testing: Fundamentals and Applications for Nutrient and Soil Health Management in Coastal Regions.” The programme aimed to build technical expertise and practical competence among selected participants (2 males and 3 females) in the areas of soil testing, nutrient analysis, and sustainable soil health practices in coastal agro-ecosystems. The training featured a comprehensive blend of expert lectures, laboratory practicals, field demonstrations, and interactive sessions, led by subject matter specialists using ICAR-CCARI’s state-of-the-art soil testing facilities. The refresher session was designed to reinforce core concepts, address laboratory challenges, and update participants on recent advancements in soil analysis techniques. It also enabled personalized learning and in-depth feedback from mentors. During the inaugural session, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, highlighted the critical role of soil testing, nutrient management, and water conservation in coastal agriculture. This initiative underscores ICAR-CCARI’s ongoing commitment to capacity building, knowledge dissemination, and promotion of sustainable soil and nutrient management practices tailored for coastal regions. He encouraged participants to act as “Soil Doctors” and extend their knowledge to the farming community. Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Shri Vinod Ananda Ubarhande, and Shri Shashi Vishwakarma coordinated the programme.
