ICAR-CCARI, Goa organized Training-cum-Distribution under AICRP on Pig (NEH Head) in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema

    ICAR-CCARI, Goa organized a one-day Training-cum-Distribution on “Scientific Pig Farming” under the AICRP on Pig (NEH head) in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema on 11th March, 2025 at the Training Hall of ICAR-KVK Dimapur. A total of 52 participants (25 male and 27 female) from seven villages under Niuland and Chumoukedima district attended the programme. In the inaugural address, Dr. Mahak Singh, Senior Scientist (AR&G), Nagaland encouraged the participants to go for large scale farming, adopt pig breeding practice for multiplication and a sustainable farming livelihood improvement. He also apprised the farmers to adopt artificial insemination (AI) in pig farming which can lead to numerous benefits, including improved genetics, better herd health, and increased productivity. Dr. Phool Kumari, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Dimapur encouraged the farmers to avail the facilities that are available both at ICAR and KVK Dimapur and requested the farmers to keep pigs for breeding and multiplication rather than for immediate consumption. Dr Amiya Ranjan Sahu, Scientist and P.I of AICRP on pig, ICAR-CCARI, Goa highlighted about different aspects of scientific pig farming. He also stressed on the adoption of scientific management practices in pig farming for achieving better results in terms of productivity, health, and profitability. At the end of the programme, piglets were distributed to the farmers. Training was coordinated by Dr Amiya Ranjan Sahu, Dr Mahak Singh and Dr Jyotish Barman. Overall arrangement during training and distribution was coordinated by Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie, CTO (Animal Science), KVK-Dimapur.
