ICAR-CCARI nominated Three Women Farmers from Goa Felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa

At the “11 Saal – Sankalp Se Siddhi” celebration held at Ponda, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, in the presence of the cabinet and Chief Secretary, felicitated three outstanding women farmers for their exemplary contributions to Goa’s agriculture and allied sectors.

Smt. Suvidha Shambu and Smt. Radha Krishna Talpikar from Canacona were honoured for conserving the unique Khola Chilli, which gained GI status in 2018 and was registered as Goa’s first farmer variety under the PPV&FR Act in 2024 with scientific support from ICAR-CCARI.

Smt. Anisha Samant of Tamboxem (Pernem) was recognised for building a successful dairy enterprise—growing from five to 40 cows—under the Kamdhenu Scheme, with sustained guidance from ICAR-CCARI and KVK North Goa.

Smt. Silvia Fernandes from Curtorim (Salcette) was awarded for pioneering estuarine cage aquaculture, achieving a 2,400 kg yield and ₹7 lakh profit, showcasing the impact of fisheries innovation with ICAR-CCARI’s support.

All three women are shining examples of how scientific interventions and institutional support can empower rural women and transform livelihoods across Goa.
