ICAR-CCARI felicitated for outstanding contributions by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa during the state-level function
In a momentous recognition of its exceptional contributions to coastal agriculture and allied sectors, the ICAR - Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Old Goa, was felicitated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant. The honour was conferred during the state-level function held at Ponda to mark “11 Saal – Sankalp Se Siddhi”, commemorating 11 years of transformative governance.
The award was presented to Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, and his team, in the presence of the state cabinet and Chief Secretary, acknowledging the Institute’s pivotal role in advancing agricultural innovation, sustainability, and rural development in Goa and other coastal states. During the function, the team of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) also participated and displayed key initiatives for the benefit of attending farmers and other stakeholders.
ICAR-CCARI has achieved significant milestones, including releasing 28 improved varieties of 11 crops through the State Variety Release Committee of Goa and recommending 11 varieties of 6 horticultural crops for Goa by CVRC. The Institute has developed 20 ICAR-certified technologies, registered the indigenous “Shweta Kapila” cattle and “Agonda Goa Pig” with NBAGR, and commercialised eight innovative technologies backed by four patents.
Its policy contributions have shaped Goa’s Amritkal Agriculture Policy, and the Institute has actively supported GI tagging of Mankurad Mango, Khola Chilli, and Goa Cashew. Reaching over 35,000 stakeholders annually, ICAR-CCARI continues to drive inclusive, sustainable, and science-led agricultural transformation aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
