ICAR-CCARI, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, Goa, organized Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (Pre-Kharif Campaign) in collaboration with the Directorate of Agriculture, Directorate of Fisheries, Department of Cooperation, Government of Goa, ATMA, North Goa, and NABARD, Goa at Panchayat office, Amona, Bicholim on 29 May 2025. Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Hon'ble Minister of Water Resource Development, Govt of Goa, was the chief guest of the function. He urged the farming community to adopt research-based advisories and the Integrated Farming System (IFS) approach to ensure a sustainable livelihood for farmers in Goa. He emphasized the need to implement advanced agricultural technologies tailored to Goan conditions, which would significantly enhance farm income and overall livelihood. He also stressed the importance of education, agriculture, and water conservation as key pillars for the nation's sustainable development. He encouraged every household to plant at least one tree to help preserve our fragile ecosystem.
    Dr Parveen Kumar, Director of ICAR-CCARI, Goa, emphasized the vital role of agricultural research in enhancing the production of food grains, fruits, vegetables, poultry, eggs, fish, and milk across the country. He encouraged farmers to construct at least one farm pond at an elevated location, which can be used for gravity-fed irrigation. Furthermore, he stressed that it would be highly beneficial in increasing the cropping intensity of goan agriculture and improving water use efficiency on farms.
    During the function, scientists from ICAR-CCARI, officials from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, Cooperation, ATMA, NABARD, and Panchayat members actively participated, sharing valuable agro-advisories, along with information on central and state-level government schemes and policies. This campaign features the active involvement of the Siddha Research Institute, under the Ministry of AYUSH, which is offering health check-ups for farmers in conjunction with agricultural advisories. A total of 68 farmers participated and benefited from the event. As part of the event, the Hon'ble Minister distributed climate-resilient rice varieties suitable for Khazan lands, along with coconut seedlings, to the participating farmers.
    The program began with a warm welcome from Dr Manokara K.K., followed by a briefing on the initiative by Dr Udharwar S.V. At the conclusion, Dr N. Bommayasamy proposed the vote of thanks. After the function, the Hon'ble Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar flagged off the Viksit Krishi Sankpal Abhiyan, which is scheduled to continue for the next 15 days. This campaign is being coordinated by Dr Manokara K.K., Dr N. Bommayasamy, Dr Udharwar S.V., Mr Rahul Kulkarni, Mr Rahul Kumar, Mr Vishwajeet, and Mr AK Tiwari.
